Monkey Pod is a Hard, Stylish and Beautiful Wood

The dark brown veins on the yellow-brown background give it a precious look.

Monkey pod, raintree, serese, these are the few names of the species. Monkey pods are originally from South America and today grow in many different countries such as Fiji, Guatemala, Ecuador, Colombia. That is only the western part of the world. In the Asian continent (where it was imported) it is also widely spread and you can find it in countries such as Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), Laos, Cambodia, Australia and so on.

A tropical beauty

You might have noticed all the countries mentioned on both continents are of the tropical weather. However, despite belonging to the same family the trees from the western world are different and have also a different local name.

For instance, in the Asia pacific countries the name for the monkey pod tree is albizia samanth whilst in America and South America the tree is called Perota or Guanacaste.

So, let’s say it is the same family but completely different species. The Asian Pacific monkey pod slabs can be identified with its signature black stripes and golden color, it also has an interesting mix of wavy and straight grain patterns that captivate you immediately. This black striping color is specific to the trees that grow in the basalt rich volcanic soil.

Woodworkers love this species because it’s easy to work with and has a ton of character in the grain. It definitely has a tropical feel with rich golden colors that remind us of the exotic place it comes from where the sun is hot.

Monkey pod wood and table design

A monkey pod live edge table is a relatively new creation, but it is quickly becoming one of the most popular pieces of furniture found in homes today.

One of the first things that someone might notice about these lovely monkey pod dining tables is the unique way in which they are built.

The designs are not like any other dining tables that you will see around when shopping for new dining room furniture.

Many of the modern designs of these monkey pod tables, whether these are proposed as a dining table or as a monkey pod coffee table, feature sharp edged black steel legs that are in pure contrast to the golden yellow and the dark shadows of the live edge wood with its uneven sides and that perfect imperfections that characterize these breathtaking stunning wooden slabs.

It is just an amazing combination of colors and shapes for the eye. The unique look that they provide to the space that they fill makes live edge wood slabs and black steel legs a very popular choice for modern decor.

Why is so popular

There are many reasons why a person might choose a monkey pod dining table over a traditional wooden or aluminum dining table.

First of all the material they are made out of is of course considered ecologically friendly when compared with plastic and other modern synthetic materials used to make furniture. However, the most important reason why this material is popular is that it is very durable and has a very high quality.

The warmth it gives to the dining room is unmatched and is therefore another reason that makes people prefer it. On that account, if you want to buy a table that is comfortable, stylish, long lasting, easy to maintain and eco-friendly, then a monkey pod table is definitely the one for you.
