If you are having trouble with termites, you can use a homemade mixture of olive oil and white vinegar on your wooden tables and chairs. You can even make it yourself! It is a natural termite repellent and is an excellent alternative to toxic chemicals.

Aloe vera gel

Applying a coat of Aloe Vera gel on a live edge wooden table is one way to prevent termites and other pests from destroying the table. The gel has a natural chemical that repels these pests. Simply crush the leaves of the Aloe Vera plant and mix them with water in a mixture of one part crushed aloe to five parts water. The mixture can then be sprayed onto the infested area.

Alternatively, you can apply pure aloe vera gel to wooden furniture. This method is more effective than using store-bought aloe gel, which often contains fragrances and other chemicals that might actually attract pests.

Dealing with drywood termites

If you are looking for ways to prevent drywood termites from destroying your wooden tables, there are several solutions that you can use. The first solution is to treat the wood in question with a localized treatment. To do this, you must somehow reach through the termite holes and force an insecticide through. The termites will then die.

You may detect the presence of drywood termites when you see them swarming or find pulverized wood on the surface. However, determining the extent of an infestation is not a simple task.

Dealing with carpenter ants

Carpenter ants are also insects that like to make their colonies in wood. These ants tunnel through wood to reach their nests. Unlike termite tunnels, that have mud packed throughout, carpenter ants’ tunnels are smooth. In addition, carpenter ants leave no visible sawdust piles.

While carpenter ants are not as dangerous as termites, they can still destroy wooden objects. In general, it is not difficult to get rid of them on your own, though if the infestation is severe, you may want to hire a professional pest control company.

Carpenter ants aren’t harmful to humans and do not spread diseases. They feed on sugar, protein, and other substances. While they don’t transmit disease, they can sting if you touch them. But they’re not harmful and shouldn’t pose a threat to you or your pets.

If you want to protect your raw wooden tables and furniture from termites and other pests, you can use natural repellents. Orange oil, for example, is highly effective against termites. This oil contains d-limonene, which kills termites by causing them to lose moisture and proteins. This repellent should be applied to the surface of the table, not the wood itself.

Bora-Care is an effective insecticide made from a borate base that has anti-bacterial properties and can repel wood-boring insects. It is available in powder form and can be sprinkled around your house or garden. You can also prepare a solution by mixing boric acid with sugar and water and spray it on trees, plants, and fences.

Whole-structure treatment

Whole-structure treatment uses heat to destroy termites and other wood-boring insects. This process involves heating core wood to 120degF and maintaining the temperature for more than one hour. This treatment is often used on structures with large heat sinks.

Unlike fumigation, which requires an entire building to be evacuated, heat treatment can treat entire structures in one treatment. It is also possible to treat parts of large structures separately.

Termites are a significant threat to buildings. When wood structures are compromised by termite activity, the value of the property will drop significantly. As a result, people should act quickly to protect their investment.
